Escondido today

As you can see, this area hasn't changed much from the old says. It's still a dead end line from the turnout at Oceanside to Escondido. The first photo is where the line ends, behind the fuel dealer. Lots of switching with the feed supply. I drew a track plan for this branch a few years ago:

Escondido and The Santa Fe

Growing up in San Diego and being a train nut, both model and prototype railroading, I loved the branch of The Santa Fe between Oceanside and Escondido. Now it's BNSF and most of it is transit passenger trains.
